Dr. David Zhang

Dr. David Zhang is a specialist orthodontist committed to providing the highest quality of orthodontic care for adults, teenagers and children alike.

Dr. David completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Melbourne, and achieved Dux of Class four years in a row. His passion for orthodontics allowed him to obtain the Mervyn Townsend Memorial Prize for top student in orthodontics. After practicing as a general dentist for several years in Victorian metro and regional communities, he returned to the University of Melbourne to complete his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, with a specialist degree in Orthodontics in which he achieved first class honours.

Throughout the years of practicing dentistry, Dr. David has built a reputation for developing excellent rapport with his patients, and takes pride in providing the highest level of orthodontic care.

Academically, Dr. David has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at various conferences. He has taught and mentored dental students at the University of Melbourne, with an aim to invest in the future generation of dental practitioners. Dr. David’s thesis topic in speciality training focused on orthodontic biomechanics, and he has a special interest in the use of Burstone biomechanics and skeletal anchorage in order to achieve faster results.

Dr. David’s interests outside of orthodontics include reading, go-karting, archery, and spending time with family. In his spare time, he also practices as an optometrist, which was his first qualification obtained prior to orthodontics.

Other than English, Dr. David also speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and Teochew.
